#1 - South Africa on a PPL
by Irv Lee
Advice for the UK Licensed Private Pilot
Invaluable necessary reading before a fun-flying vacation in South Africa.

"South Africa on a PPL" is designed and written for the UK qualified pilot who wishes to fly for fun and self hire whilst on vacation or business in the Republic of South Africa, yet does not have a South African Licence. It guides the pilot through the validation process and explains the both the practical differences from back home in the UK (e.g.: VFR mandatory flight levels) and some of the theory differences. Highly Recommended by UK pilots who have read it before arriving in South Africa.

"South Africa on a PPL" is an invaluable aid to answer the questions you already have, but of course it answers the questions you didn't know you had to ask! You will need to pass 'SA Air Law' on arrival in South Africa, and as well as the practicalities, this booklet contains the main theory differences you need to know between S.A. and the U.K. (For example, a question you may be asked is when night 'starts'? In the UK, you probably know the answer is 30 minutes after sunset in the UK, but not so in South Africa - you need to read this booklet for differences such as this which could well come up in your examination! (To avoid the suspense, night starts 15 minutes after sunset)
